Let’s find out who are Bollywood’s one-hit wonders. Click to read more…

Not everyone has a great start in Bollywood. The actual debut of the three main Khan’s of Bollywood – Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir – were quite small-scale. Madhuri was cast opposite a little known actor in her first film. Akshay Kumar had a seven second role in a Raj Kiran film in the late ’80s, before he made his proper debut in Saugandh that flopped.

Then there are others who get a amazing start to their career, with a blockbuster debut. Some like Hritik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Vidya Balan and Ajay Devgn continued to keep the stardom intact, some like Imran Khan and Vivek Oberoi are in a danger of losing their foothold in the industry, while some like the below have already disappeared or in the process of doing so.

Below are 9 actors who, after a brilliant start, bowed out of the rat-race before reaching the finishing line.

Kumar Gaurav

Kumar

His first film, Love Story, was a tremendous hit, that people began to compare him to his father, Rajendra ‘Jubilee’ Kumar. However, apart from Naam, for which Sanjay Dutt took the major credit, none of his other films worked out, making him vanish into oblivion. He again surfaced with a decent performance in Sanjay Gupta‘s Kaante, but got lost in the plethora of stars.

Rahul Roy

Rahul

Aashiqui is a film no one will forget soon what with its evergreen songs and a sequel that was as big a blockbuster as the original. Hiwever, bith its stars, Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, have been forgotten by the viewers. Rahul had acted in a few flicks after success of the melodious hits, but, except for Junoon, he could not establish a strong foothold. He went missing for several years before reappearing in the house of Bigg Boss with his Aashiqui co-star, Deepak Tijori.

Vivek Mushran

Vivek

The man who made Ilu Ilu a household word in Subhash Ghai’s monster hit, Saudagar. Vivek had a dream debut, but his lack of range in acting prowess and his reluctance in taking risks was his undoing. His biggest mistake was letting go of Yash Chopra’s Darr, where he was offered SRK’s role. You know what happened next…Incidentally, both SRK and Vivek Mushran starred in Ramjaane, but by then Shah Rukh Khan had already become the superstar, Vivek could have been!

Gracy Singh

Gracy

She had the Oscar-nominated Lagaan as her debut film. She stole Munnabhai’s heart in the first movie. And years later, she played the heroine to a self-called legend in a n unintentionally funny film called Deshdrohi . ‘From Lagaan to Kamaal R. Khan – The Downward Spiral of My Career’, that would be the name of Gracy’s autobiography!

Bhagyashree

Bhagyashree

Maine Pyar Kiya relaunched Salman Khan’s career, while also introducing us to the demure Bhagyashree. With the huge success the film had, she could easily have been the next star. Instead she got married and insisted to all the producers who was lining up to sign her, that she would only work with her totally non-talented husband, Himalaya. Three flops later, no one cared about both them. Years later, she appeared as Akshay Kumar’s sister in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.

Bhumika Chawla

Bhumika

One of Salman’s biggest hits was Tere Naam, a remake of the Tamil hit Sethu. It also introduced us to a girl, people said reminded them of our previous entry. Bhumika gave an endearing performance in her first film. She was a huge name in the South then. After Tere Naam, she also played the lead in Run, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha and Silsilay, but could never create the same impact as her debut.

Ameesha Patel

Ameesha

The success of Kaho Na…Pyaar Hai gave instant super-stardom to its lead debutante, Hritik Roshan. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his heroine, Ameesha Patel. Though she was also a part of an even bigger success in Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, it was a Sunny Deol film all the way. She acted in a few films like Kranti, Humraaz, and others, but she soon faded out of the public memory. Now, she is staging a comeback in her home production, Desi Magic, but we have no hopes it would work any magic!

Sonal Chauhan

Sonal

The beautiful actress made a good debut in Jannat, with Emraan Hashmi as her pair. Unfortunately for her, Bollywood didn’t consider her more than a pretty face, and she is yet to be seen in Hind films after the crappy horror flick, 3G.

You know any actors who couldn’t maintain the momentum after a brilliant start? Let us know…
