The film sees a major dip during the second week…
Dilwale, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, opened very well when it released last week, however the film has witnessed a major dip on the second Monday and Tuesday. The film had already dipped on the first Monday but after a steady first week, it seemed that the film would have a steady weekend. But, Dilwale crashed on the second Monday again and further dipped on the second Tuesday.
As exhibitor and distributor, Akshaye Rathi revealed, “Dilwale has crashed in the second week. It collected just Rs 3 crore on Monday and another rs 2.15 crore on Tuesday. The occupancy has dipped heavily in the second week.”
The film had collected Rs 123.88 crore by the end of the second week. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted earlier, “#Dilwale doesn’t witness major spurt in biz, despite holidays. [Week 2] Fri 8.11 cr, Sat 6 cr, Sun 7.12 cr. Total: Rs 123.88 cr. India biz.” Add to that Rs 3 crore and Rs 2.15 from the second week, you get a total collection of Rs 129.03 crore at the end of 12 days.
However, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has been performing well in the international market, earning Rs 110.83 crore in 10 days.
Dilwale had received mixed reviews, but while the audience’s response was good initially, it seems that they have changed their mind as the film has no takers in the second week. The film is set to dip further during this week, but with no release till January 8, the film might have an extended run at the box office.
