The intense actor will play the CBI officer who will solve the famous 1987 fake IT raid case in his upcoming film
It’s headlines like ‘Fake Income Tax team dupes superstar’ and ‘MLA’s house raided by fake FBI’ that have grabbed our eyeballs in mainstream newspapers. And it did not take us too long to realise that these are attention-seeking PR gimmicks for Manoj Bajpayee’s next release Special Chabbis. These adverts are highly innovative and quite interesting which give us a hint of what the film is based on. These PR drives also create some curiosity in the reader’s minds.
Special Chabbis is based on the real-life daring heist of 1987 where an unknown man posing as CBI officer Mon Singh recruited 26 men and executed a daylight raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri jewellers, and disappeared with jewellery worth lakhs.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey (of A Wednesday! fame), the film also stars Akshay Kumar, Jimmy Shergill, Kajal Aggarwal and Anupam Kher. Akki will play the leader of the 26-men army who choreographed the heist and Anupam Kher will play the mastermind of this unimaginable robbery. Manoj Bajpayee has been roped in to play the CBI officer who will leave no stone unturned to solve this special case.
Special Chabbis will release on February 8, 2013.
