Based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel The 3 Mistakes Of My Life, Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! looks both absorbing and riveting…and very interesting indeed
After giving us the delightful Rock On!! in 2008, director Abhishek Kapoor is all set to tell us yet another interesting story with his next venture titled Kai Po Che!. The movie is based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel The 3 Mistakes Of My Life and stars young actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav.
Set against the backdrop of religious politics, the film is based on the journey of three friends and their struggle to achieve their long-nurtured dreams. Going by the trailer, we must say that Kapoor weaves cricket, religion and business into the narrative beautifully through a fine screenplay. And the actors are spontaneous and convincingly real, with Sushant leading the pack, often literally, but with his glowing presence – now we know why his TV soap Pavitra Rishta did so well!
The unusual title has been derived from a common Gujarati phrase used during Makar Sankranti to announce success and exultation. The movie is shot entirely in Gujarat. The lead characters of the film – the three friends – and the magical moments they share makes for a promising story. The beautiful montage of the various phases these characters go through is nicely portrayed in the trailer with an inspiring track – Ruthe khwabon ko manayenge, composed by the talented Amit Trivedi – playing in the background.
