It’s going to be a treat for Rahman fans this weekend, as the Oscar and Grammy Award-winner will perform live at the Salute to the Motherland concert at the YMCA Grounds in Chennai
AR Rahman will be performing to a packed stadium of 25,000 people this Saturday, December 30, in Chennai. Organised by Jaya TV at the YMCA Grounds at Nandanam in Chennai, the concert, titled Thaai Manne Vanakkam (Salute to the Motherland), will have all Tamil songs of the musical genius, right from his first movie Roja to the latest one, Kadal.
Rahman said, “I was waiting for the right opportunity and it took so long for me to come up with a concert of only Tamil songs. There was some resistance to me doing a mixture of numbers from other languages at the concert. So, TMV will feature only Tamil songs from Roja till Kadal.”
Several musicians are being flown in from foreign countries to perform at the TMV concert. A talent hunt is also underway; five winners will be selected and these lucky ones will get to perform with Rahman on stage. What a perfect new year gift this will be for thousands of Rahman fans!
