Neil and Sonal, who are gearing for their upcoming release, clarify about the kissing scenes in the film, their onscreen chemistry, working with each other for the first time, performing underwater stunts and much more
At the promotional event of their film 3G, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan were quite infuriated with the media as they felt that the interviews meant to promote the film gradually veered towards their kissing scenes and their onscreen and off-screen chemistry and nothing else.
“It hurts when certain sections of the press blow the ‘kiss scene’ out of proportion and also ask stupid questions to actors on the same like how it felt to kiss your co-star,” said a visibly disturbed Neil. Taking a potshot at some channel reporters present, Neil said, “Some reporters without even confirming tell us that our (Neil and Sonal) personal equation would have made it easier for us to do the kissing scenes. I was like… who told you that we are dating each other? He went on to ask the journo, “Have you seen the film? If I write some bad things about you, will you believe that?” Neil stated, “3G has only 3 and not 30 kissing scenes. The makers have shot them aesthetically.”
The David star, who’s super irritated with stories about the link-ups, said, “Media have always written stories about Sonal and me and linked us together. Along with supernatural elements, the film also has a love story, so obviously people wouldn’t expect us to play daandiya at the exotic Figi Islands. Right? The film talks about a young couple, so there would be some kind of intimacy. If you take a walk at the Marine Drive, you can see minimum 20 couple kissing each other at a stretch. What’s the big deal? But yes on screen it forms a bigger shape and you guys make it even bigger.”
Neil was all praise for his co-star Sonal when asked about his experience of working with her. “It was really a pleasure working with Sonal because very few actors believe in this type (supernatural) of genre and take the risk of doing a film like 3G and I appreciate Sonal for that. She has really worked very hard on the film.”
Sonal, who had to undergo some rigorous training to perfect her swimming, said, “I was very scared of that considering it was an action scene that we had to perform under water. Neil knows how to swim but I literally learnt it for two months. My experience with Neil was also good. We actually met each other on the sets of this film for the first time. I have seen his films and so I feel that Neil is a very good actor. But what I realised after meeting him and working with him is that he’s a very good co-star, very helpful… not just me, he helps everyone on the sets. His inputs have always worked in the favour of the film. Not many know that Neil has also choreographed an action sequence for the film which has turned out to be very nice and you’ll get to see Neil’s name at the end of the film in the credits.”
With that, both Neil and Sonal accepted the request and sang the melodious romantic track Tujhse mohabbat hui from the supernatural thriller and signed off! Watch the video interview for more.
