Eega, which featured Nani, Kiccha Sudeep and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles, has been selected for screening at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival and the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival.
In Cannes, it will be showcased in the market section and in Shanghai in the panorama section. Eega was the story of a young man who comes back as a housefly to avenge his killers, and the movie was also released in Hindi as Makkhi and as Naan Ee in Tamil.
Confirming the same, the film’s director SS Rajamouli posted on his Twitter page, “We got the official confirmation this morning. Eega has been selected in the panorama section of Shanghai International Film Festival. These are small steps into venturing into newer markets. Hoping to make some breakthroughs, however small they might be.”
Producer Shobu Yarlagadda posted on his Twitter page, “Going to attend Cannes film festival and the Film Market. First time going to any festival. We are also screening Eega in the Cannes Film Market (March Du Film) on the 20th.”
Lot of Indian and foreign films have been screened at the Cannes film market to attract international buyers and distributors. Besides being a box-office hit, the film also managed to pocket two trophies at the 60th National Film Awards - Best Special Effects and Best Film in Telugu.
