The actor took 20 minutes to reach the courtroom from his car amidst a frantic crowd
Sanjay Dutt’s long and painful saga has only begun. The actor, on his way to surrender before the TADA court, was mobbed right outside the court gates. The onlookers included cameramen, media and fans, as a tight ring of policemen escorted him to the courtroom, and the Munnabhai actor took almost 20 minutes to reach there.
The 53-year-old, convicted in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, left his Bandra home in the afternoon to a similar sight as hordes of fans gathered outside his building. While some chanted slogans in favour of the actor, others demanded a harsher sentence, and Sanjay among all this chaos, left along with wife Manyata Dutt, and first visited the Siddhivinayak temple to seek blessings.
A lot of big names from the film fraternity were there to show their support and solidarity towards Sanju, who has been convicted under the Arms Act. There were early morning prayers and celebrity visitors at his residence right since morning.
Dressed in a white kurta, with cropped hair and a tilak on his forehead, he waved at the media and fans before walking hand-in-hand with wife Manyata towards his car.
The actor will be taken first to the Arthur Road jail where paperwork and all other formalities will be completed after which he will mostly be taken to the Yerawada jail in Pune to serve his remaining three-and-half year sentence.
