The Munna Bhai star will begin serving his sentence from today
Sanjay Dutt surrendered today before the TADA court to start serving his three-and-half year sentence in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case. The star reached the court in a white kurta and jeans with a big tilak on his forehead.
He left his Bandra residence in the afternoon along with wife Manyata Dutt. He first stopped at the Siddhivinayak temple to seek blessings after which he reached court. There was a fair bit of jostling as media persons, fans and police almost mobbed the actor and Sanjay reached the insides of the courtroom after a lengthy 20-minute struggle. Inside the courtroom, Dutt was identified and the paperwork on his case started.
After the paperwork formalities are completed, Sanjay will be mostly taken to Arthur Road jail and then to Yerawada jail in Pune where he will serve his remaining sentence. Apparently, Sanjay will be allowed a few amenities in prison including home-cooked food, mattress, pillows and medicines for a month.
Also, the Arthur road jail, a few days ago, received an anonymous hand-written letter in Hindi that said Dutt would be harmed if he were to be lodged in the same prison.
