Despite an unsuccessful Telugu debut, the South actor managed to find a strong foothold in the industry

Neelam Upadhyay credits luck for her success and says it is vital to survive in this competitive field.

“I give prime importance to luck as I believe I’m in the industry ‘coz of it, while there are still so many aspiring actors waiting for a break. I have also been lucky enough to keep myself busy even after an upsetting debut. If my career is going places, I truly believe luck has a part to play in it,” said Neelam, who debuted with Mr. 7 in 2012.

“Luck also helps you beat competition at times and lets you stay in the race,” added Neelam, who is currently awaiting the release of her Telugu comedy Action 3D. She has also started working in another Telugu and a Tamil film.

Quizzed about her working experience in the first Telugu 3D film, she said it was”enriching and mesmerising. “It’s amazing how we co-incidentally came up with a first 3D film while our industry completes 100 years. The experience was enriching and it was truly mesmerising to see how something so simple we’ve done off-screen look so elaborate on screen with the 3D glasses,” she said. “I’m lucky to be a part of such a film with an ensemble cast at such an early phase of my career,” added Neelam, who is currently in the final year of pursuing her bachelors degree in English Literature.

Action 3D, India’s first Telugu 3D picture, is directed by Anil Sunkara. The film also features Allari Naresh, Shaam, Vaibhav Reddy, Sneha Ullal, Ritu Barmecha and Kamna Jethmalani in important roles and is slated to release on May 31.
