The Chennai Court has restricted Tamil star Vijay’s next from using the title Thuppakki
AR Murugadoss’ upcoming film starring superstar Vijay has run into controversy over copyright violations. The Chennai City Civil Court has restricted the makers of Thuppakki, which is being directed by A R Murugadoss, from using its title till July 16. The direction was given by the Court while hearing a petition filed by the producer of a movie titled Kalla Thuppakki, which has newcomers in lead roles.
In his petition, KC Ravidevan of North East Film Works Film Factory alleged that the producers of Thuppakki, using the influence of Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekaran who was the president of Tamil Film Producers Council, registered the title. “I was the one who first registered the title Kalla Thupakki with the Film Chamber way back in 2009. But recently the makers of Vijay‘s next venture registered the title Thuppakki. This will affect my movie’s fortunes in the box office,” he said. The makers of the Vijay film have not commented on the issue yet.
