In spite of having three different films to choose from, moviegoers did not turn up to watch the recent Bollywood offerings

This past weekend moviegoers had plenty of choice; three films – Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh, late Shamin Desai’s Rush and Sanjay Gadhvi’s Ajab Gazabb Love – hit the screens at almost the same time. But going by the box office collections, it is obvious that none of these films managed to generate enough interest among movie buffs. Monetarily speaking, only Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh starring Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee and Abhay Deol enjoyed a noteworthy response. The film was released on Wednesday and collected Rs 3.25 crore on the first day. By Sunday evening the all India collection for Chakravyuh reached a decent figure of Rs 12 crore.

On the other hand the Jacky Bhagnani production Ajab Gazabb Love, which was trashed by both critics and audiences alike, managed to net close to Rs 5 crore in the first three days of its release. Surprisingly, Emraan Hashmi’s Rush did not attract many eyeballs either. Hashmi, who is considered a promising draw at the theaters failed to show his charm in his latest release. Rush’s weekend collection reached the dismal Rs 2.5 crore mark.

Interestingly, Karan Johar’s glossy drama Student Of The Year is still ruling at the box office – many still preferred to watch KJo’s young love story rather than the three movies that released last week.
