Well, let your imagination run on a slightly wild lane where there’s loads of smooching, feeling and undressing, ‘coz that’s precisely what is running in the cuddly heads of Ayushmann Khurrana and Pooja Salvi. Hmm, but do all those words make you wonder if this video’s gonna be sleazy? Trust us, it’s not. It’s cute, romantic, a tad naughty, but not at all sleazy.

Moreover, the song bears a clear stamp of Ayushmann. And the places where he stands with his guitar might remind you of the song Paani da from Vicky Donor. Pooja Salvi tries her best to look sexy and coy at the same time, but kinds of fails at the job. Hmm, what does that say about her acting skills? We shudder at the thought.

Coming back to this number, the lyrics are in Punjabi and have been composed by Ayushmann and Rochak Kohli. Mr Khurrana has lent his voice to this one and we’re glad about it.

The yesteryear diva is all set to blow the lid off controversies that revolve around popular beauty contests

She’s India’s beauty queen in the truest sense of the word. Even before she made her Bollywood debut, Zeenat Aman had won the Miss Asia Pacific title in 1970. And now more than four decades later – and quite ironically – Zeenat is gearing up to make her comeback with her forthcoming production that will deal with controversies revolving around beauty pageants. It will be directed by Ashish Bhasvar who has worked as a senior technician in movies like Dead of Night, Mere Genie Uncle and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.

Zeenat, we hear, will play the chairperson of a beauty pageant in the movie. Though the title is not decided yet, the film will show the dark side of the glamorous world. Zeenat’s character Maya is a megalomaniac who is full of herself. She lives in a delusional world and her illusions are further fuelled by a false sense of power. The movie will be in 3D and the director thought that only Zeenat could do justice to the challenging role.

We hope that the final product will be as good as the promising script. We don’t want the veteran actor to let us down like she did with last project Duuno Y! which was so bad that it was good. We hope Zeenat won’t repeat the same mistake and will save us from yet another torture!

The brothers are coming back together, but this time as producer-director

After a break, Dhanush and his elder brother Selvaraghavan are set to come together again. But this time, Dhanush will not act in the film to be directed by Selvaraghavan.  Instead, the National Award-winning actor will produce the next directorial venture of his brother.

Revealing this on his microblogging page, Dhanush wrote, “Very proud to announce that Selvaraghavan will be directing his next film for my production house. Cast to be decided soon.”

Meanwhile, Dhanush’s maiden production venture Edhirneechal, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Priya Anand in the lead roles, is getting ready to hit the screens.

The Rangrezz actor tries hard to copy Psy’s Gangnam style, but fails miserably

There have been numerous parodies of Korean rapper Psy’s popular song Gangnam style. And while some are funny and interesting, others are lame and pointless. But Jackky Bhagnani’s version of the most popular song on the internet stands nowhere close to the worse parody!

In the video, Jackky tries to be funny and apes Psy’s iconic horse-whip step. He tries to incorporate it in the Indian milieu and goes crazy on the streets of Mumbai, but the attempt will make you cringe.

And just for what reason did Jackky strip in the song? It could be anybody’s guess! Wethinks it is his newly painted abs that he is trying to show off, because the camera spends half the time capturing his midriff. There’s a bit of Harlem shake in the song too, but it is done so badly that one ends up thinking that Jackky is trying out some new step.

Anyway, check out the video at your own risk. Your sensibilities are sure to be assaulted like never before!

The 3 Idiots director, who was filming the Aamir Khan-Sanjay Dutt starrer P.K. in Rajasthan, fainted on the sets and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital

Its summer folks – time to sweat more and get tanned! Ask Rajkumar Hirani who recently had to bear the brunt of it. The ace filmmaker who’s shooting for his much-anticipated film P.K. in Mandawa, Rajasthan suffered a severe heat stroke.

Sources revealed that Hirani was shooting at marathon speed on the streets of Mandawa and Jaipur in the scorching heat and in the middle of one shot, the unit members realised that Raju looked extremely weak. After a while, he almost fainted and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Hirani underwent a few tests and the doctors revealed that it was just a heat stroke.

Much to the relief of the unit members, it wasn’t anything serious and the director was advised two days of rest. Tension nahin lene ka Raju ji, bole toh, take adequate amount of rest and have lots of nimbu paani on the sets!

The actor, who is waiting for her upcoming Bollywood movie Chashme Baddoor’s release, says that her sister isn’t foraying into films as of now

Taapsee Pannu has refuted reports which claimed that her younger sister Shagun Pannu is all set to enter films. “If she is making her debut in tinsel town, I will be the first person to announce it to the world. The reports were untrue,” said the Aadukalam and Vandhan Vendraan actor.

Taapsee is currently working with Ajith in his next movie titled Valai, which is being directed by Vishnuvardhan.

She says she shares a beautiful relationship with her sister. “Shagun is my best friend. She will shine bright if she becomes an actor,” said Tapsee and added, “I am happy with the offers I have been getting in Kollywood and Tollywood.”

Cineswami takes a look  at the great female bonding films that Bollywood has produced, and also reports that a new girl-bonding movie is being planned

Today is International Women’s Day, as every media outlet will remind you, unless of course you live under a rock where gender issues may not be as pronounced. The big release today is Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, but the hit of the year so far has been male bonding tale Kai Po Che! that continues to do excellent business, having netted more that 45 crore rupees in two weeks. Not bad at all for a film with no big stars. Apart from Abhishek Kapoor’s extremely competent filmmaking and the troika of male stars’ superb acting, it is the theme that has made Kai Po Che! attractive to audiences, namely, male bonding.

Bollywood history is littered with successful examples of male bonding films ranging from Sholay to Chashme Buddoor to Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron to Satte Pe Satta to Amar Akbar Anthony to Naseeb and several recent examples including 3 Idiots, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Rock On!!, Dil Chahta Hai, Jhankaar Beats, Rang De Basanti, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Delhi Belly… the list is seemingly endless and inexhaustible. Yes, there are women in these films and yes in some of them the women are strong, but there is no getting away from the fact that they are in essence, male bonding films.

So, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, let’s look at the great female bonding films that Bollywood has produced. The cupboard here is surprisingly bare. Aisha comes to mind, but that was a travesty of a film and the women bonding, sadly led by the vapid Sonam Kapoor, were wan. There was the tepid Dor where Ayesha Takia and Gul Panag’s thesping just didn’t hold a candle to Meera Jasmine and Kavya Madhavan’s terrific performances in the Malayalam original Perumazhakkalam. Lajja had great performances from the likes of Rekha, Manisha Koirala and Madhuri Dixit, but it wasn’t really a female bonding movie. Mrityudand, on the other hand, featured a great bond between Madhuri and Shilpa Shirodkar.

A truly outstanding female bonding film is Ketan Mehta’s classic Mirch Masala where an entire village of women, led by the late, irreplaceable Smita Patil, come together to vanquish sexual predator Naseeruddin Shah. And on the prurient end of the scale, we have Hema Malini and Parveen Babi enjoying a tender moment in Razia Sultan and Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das going at it hammer and tongs in Fire. Amongst forthcoming movies only Gulaab Gang appears to have a female bonding theme, but the real question is, where are the urban films like Rock On!! or Dil Chahta Hai or ZNMD where women bond? Aren’t Indian audiences prepared to see women have fun on screen and let their hair down with each other? Oh for a desi equivalent of the ultimate road trip movie Thelma & Louise.

There is indeed at least one female bonding movie being prepped by a well-regarded Bollywood filmmaker, but alas, Cineswami is not allowed to reveal this information yet. Watch this space. And since Mr Scissorhands has carved a niche for himself over the years, the rapport he shares with some of these stars is amazing. And we will get to see this chemistry in Aalim’s new show as well. The style maven will endow us with some juicy tidbits about these stars’ onscreen and off-screen statements. And what adds to the whole fun element is that one lucky walk-in client will get a snazzy makeover, and leave the place like a red carpet icon.

When the mere grinding cut of scissors can give rise to a teeny-weeny hesitation in the minds of the common poeple, there are stars like Hrithik, Ranbir and Ajay who consider Hakim as their hairstyle saviour. We fretted over whose mango drink would sell more. But Madam Kat remained unfazed. And here’s why…

Yesterday, we came across Shahrukh Khan promoting Frooti, a mango drink that quenched his parched throat on a sunny day. And we wondered if SRK’s advertisement – one that was aimed at the soaring temperatures of summer – would lead to a far better business than Katrina Kaif’s ad filled with juicy innuendos for Slice.

Do you know what Kat had to say to that? “I think they are very different brands, and I see them as having different messages in terms of their marketing,” KK said. Ummm, but aren’t both the messages, however different, aimed at selling mango drinks? Kat agreed by saying, “Yes, the competition is high.” Even so, she refused to comment on her Jab Tak Hai Jaan co-star’s ad. Politically correct, we say.

In the latest ad of Slice, you will see Katrina getting playful while roaming with her boyfriend as remix of the song Haal kaisa hai janaab ka plays in the background. According to our feathered friends, Kat will be seen in a playful avatar here. Just playful or playfully seductive, we wonder.

Two of Bollywood’s evergreen singers will be the subject of an international radio documentary that will talk about their long and rewarding careers

Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are hands down the biggest and the most well known faces of playback singing in India. And now, with the world turning its attention slowly towards Hindi cinema, it would be a tragedy of sorts if they were to miss out on the two singers who have sung for virtually every B-town star for almost five decades!

And so, Kabir Bedi will be lending his booming voice for a radio documentary that will talk about the two sisters and how they dominated playback singing in Bollywood for many decades. The documentary is being made by British columnist Yasmin Alibhai Brown, where she plans to cover Indian film music and the extraordinary rise of the two sisters in the world of notes.

Apparently, Kabir Bedi even spoke to Lata Mangeshkar who agreed to be a part of it, and will also provide some great insights into the world of Indian film music. That’s all cool, but we also want to know whether there will be any talk of the infamous rivalry the two sisters shared, which was captured in the 1998 film Saaz.

Well, here’s a great chance for the West now to check out the sweetest Indian film music that has ever been made!

The TV czarina intends to cash in on the Eid festival by providing food to the poor

We all know how religious Ekta Kapoor is. The successful film producer, who regularly visits Mumbai’s famous Siddhivinayak temple and undertakes several other religious activities, is planning to throw Iftaar parties during the holy month of Ramadan. Reason? The characters Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha play in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again are all Muslims and the film is releasing on August 8, which is Eid.

The idea is to offer Iftaar food to the poor at five dargahs in Mumbai. Interestingly, the starcast including Akshay, Sonakshi and Imran may attend these parties and support Ekta in this noble cause.

“The good fortune that has come my way has always encouraged me to pray before the release of my films. For Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again, which is among the biggest releases of the year during Ramadan, we will offer devotees Iftaar. This is my way of seeking blessings,” said Ms Kapoor. Hmm… may this festive season bring unparalleled box office success to Ekta Kapoor’s underworld drama.
