Zee TV’s popular show Punar Vivah is coming up with a new season, and it will be a new story and a new cast

A new chapter will unfold in Punar Vivah  with a fresh star cast under a new title Punar Vivah… Ek Nayi Umeed. But one thing that will remain constant is the issue of remarriage. With the story of protagonists Yash (Gurmeet Chaudhary) and Aarti (Kritika Sengar) and their remarriage coming to an end, the new story will see Rubina Dilaik, Karan V Grover and Srishty Rode in the lead roles.

The new story is about a popular TV actor Divya (Rubina), who puts aside her love life in the quest to build a career. Karan will play Raj, a disillusioned young man, who ends up marrying Sarita, played by Srishty, chosen by his family after losing his first love.

Karan, who has seen punar vivah happen in his family, said, “I will try to give my best and make the character relatable. I was happily surprised to get the opportunity, I like experimenting, so I accepted it.” Seen in serials like Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Karan is currently a part of the comedy show Hum Hain Aapke In Laws that airs on SAB TV.

Rubina, who played the lead in Choti Bahu, said, “Punarvivah is a second chance to live life and every individual has a right to get that second chance.” Talking about the show, she added, “Great responsibility on us to live up to the expectations of the audiences. The show will project the real life love story of a female actor, which I guess everyone wants to know about.”

The new chapter will also see Srishty, last seen on the small screen as the grown up Shobha in Shobha Somnath Ki. “I am looking forward to playing Sarita as it would show a different side of me as an actor… Sarita is not a typical kind of bahu. She is a very strong-headed woman.”

The new chapter of Punarvivaah…Ek Nayi Umeed will start May 20 on Zee TV.

Raanjhanaa, Ramaiya Vastavaiya and Issaq new posters: Dhanush, Girish Kumar and Amy Dastur make their Bollywood debut!

The upcoming films have come up with their new posters and love seems to be the common emotion in all the three

The Raanjhanaa poster is the most interesting of the lot. Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush seem to be openly declaring their love for each other. While the South star is beating the drum with great ferocity, the Kapoor chick is holding him tightly from behind – as if giving him the much needed moral support. The Ramaiya Vastavaiya poster on the other hand is fun and an epitome of young romance. Shruti Haasan and Girish Kumar seem to be reveling in the joy that their adventurous relationship has bought into their lives.

Issaq, on the contrary, looks intense. New kid Amy Dastur poses hand-in-hand with Prateik. While Prateik looks like the perfect angry young bloke, Dastur looks like the simple girl next door. She’s casting a puzzled look at him as if trying to decipher the reason behind his anger.

Do let us know which one’s your favourite poster…

After working together in films like Jannat, Jannat 2 and Tum Mile, the director-actor duo team up once again. Surprisingly, for the first time, it’s for UTV and not the Bhatt banner

Kunal Deshmukh is all set with an idea for his new film. And you don’t have to be an expert to know that Emraan Hashmi will feature in it. Yes, the two have delivered remarkable results at the box office in the past. The two have given us commercially successful movies like Jannat and Jannat 2.  And what’s new in their collaboration this time is that their fourth venture together is for UTV production and not their regular Bhatt camp. One also hears that discussions are in the final stage, and once Hashmi is back from his vacation, the work on the project will begin!

The title of this thriller and its leading lady is not finalised yet. What we wonder though is, will Hashmi stay true to his kissie boy image even in this flick!

BL Anniversary Special: Did Madhuri Dixit-Nene have cheek implants to look younger?

An avid BollywoodLife reader suggests that she did, judging by her pictures on our site

What is the raaz of Madhuri Dixit-Nene‘s beauty at 46? Definitely not the anti-ageing product she endorses. She dances, she exercises, she maintains her skin, she eats right and stays positive – but surely that’s not enough to look younger than her age, feel some BollywoodLifers. Reader Aditi saw Mads on the cover of AsiaSpa magazine, and commented, “Bad job with cheek implants and botox. Very artificial.”

Botox shots, maybe. But cheek implants and augmentation? Do you really think Madhuri has undergone these procedures? Or is it just her natural beauty? However, wethinks the face and body might age, but the grace and elegance will be hers forever. Agree? Tell us!

Trade buzz: Aurangzeb or I Don’t Luv U – Which movie looks more promising?

$

The trade buzz suggests that the Arjun Kapoor starrer has an upper hand over the relatively smaller film I Don’t Luv U

For the past several weeks the audiences have had choices – at least two films released every Friday. This week, there is Yash Raj Films’ Aurangzeb and Anil Kumar Sharma’s I Don’t Luv U all set to be unleashed for film buffs. Directed by Atul Sabharwal and produced by Aditya Chopra, Aurangzeb has Arjun Kapoor playing a double role, along with Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Prithviraj, who play pivotal characters. I Don’t Luv U stars Ruslaan Mumtaz and less known faces Chetna Pande and Murli Sharma.

While Aurangzeb focuses on the theme of ‘Kingship knows no kinship’ and ‘there can be only one emperor’, I Don’t Luv U focuses on today’s youth, especially college kids who are extremely casual in their relationships and do not want to delve into the intricacies of true love. Though the two different genres cater to different audiences, the trade is quite clear about which has better prospects at the BO…it’s not rocket science!

“Yash Raj Films is back with a slick action thriller – Aurangzeb - after a long gap of six months (after Jab Tak Hai Jaan; Mere Dad Ki Maruti was produced by Y Films). And with the kind of buzz it’s creating and considering the appeal it has with a fairly wide audience base, it has fabulous prospects at the box office!” feels trade expert Akshaye Rathi. “While the vintage 80’s style action drama with Arjun Kapoor will ensure that the audience in the single screens has a great ride, brand YRF will ensure that it has a good run at the multiplexes too!”

Rajesh Thadani (Distributor, Multimedia Combines) echoes the same sentiments: “Aurangzeb looks interesting, with a unique star cast, and I hope it will stand out. Considering Arjun Kapoor will be seen in a double role, expectations are quite high from this action thriller. Arjun’s debut film, Ishaqzaade did well at the box office, and now since Arjun has become a popular actor and carved a niche for himself, Aurangzeb should take a good opening. Unfortunately, I Don’t Luv U has a very low appeal and will witness a slow start.”

We definitely feel Aurangzeb has an edge over I Don’t Luv U, which looks like a come-and-go film from every angle. Watch this space for box office collections next week!

Our B-town rockstar might be charging crores for just one movie, but we hear that in jail apna Munnabhai will be paid Rs 25 as daily allowance

Sanjay Dutt will surrender tomorrow and is likely to be lodged at the Yerawada jail in Pune, where he’ll serve his remaining 36-month sentence. In jail, he’ll be assigned some regular tasks just like other prisoners. It’s learnt that a prisoner can be employed as a carpenter, carpet maker or a cook amongst others and Dutt might have to choose any one. Reportedly, he made a chair the last time he served his prison term. So, will he choose to be a carpenter this time?

According to a newspaper report, the Policegiri actor will be paid Rs 25 daily for the work he does. And his wages might be increased from Rs 25 to Rs 50 per day if he’s good at his job. Apart from this, Sanju is also entitled to get an allowance of Rs 1,500 from his family. The 53-year-old actor will be allowed to meet a maximum of five people from his family in a month and that too for only 20 minutes.

BollywoodLife anniversary special: What’s going to rock down South – the year ahead for stars, movies and music

$

We complete a roller-coaster year and we’ve brought you the hottest stories as they break in the colourful medley that is South cinema – from all the best movies, to every move of the top stars, the big hits, the surprise flops, everything. Time now to take you on a trip into the future

On this anniversary, here’s what we think the next year with BollywoodLife and South Gossip will bring you…

Superstars: Even with newbies and unlikely heroes arriving on the scene and winning acclaim, star power will rule. Right from the ultimate Superstar, Rajini saar (who has Kochadaiyaan coming up) to Kamal Haasan and Mollywood’s Mammootty and Mohanlal, their ratings will remain intact.

The next generation rules, too, with Ajith still holding sway over his legion of fans and his under-wraps-until-now movie set to release later in the year. Only an ageing Vikram seems to be losing his hold a bit, but then Shankar’s signed him up for his next biggie, I.

Come then to Vijay, Suriya, Dhanush, STR, followed by Jiiva, Vishal and Bharath and their star value is in-demand, too. Across the state in Tollywood, Nagarjuna continues to play romantic hero in big budget ventures, with Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan Teja ruling the charts. They’ll all continue to do so. We like Malayalam star kid Dulqar Salman’s screen presence, too.

Unlikely heroes: On the scene there’s now a new breed of actors who don’t have typical South hero looks or attitude. No six-packs and no particular mannerisms, a la Vijay and STR. And still they are impressing audiences and, most important, keeping the box office in business. Think of Edhir Neechal hero Siva Karthikeyan, Pizza boy Vijay Sethupathi, Vimal and Mirchi Siva. Watch out for these guys in the coming year, too.

Glam gals: Off-beat films with uncommon heroes may be in, but South heroines continue in the same mould. Glamour and flat abs seem to be the prerequisites to bag a role in big budget venture and this applies to all the pretty gals like Hansika Motwani, Kajal Agarwal and other wannabe newbies on the scene. They are happy playing hunk accessories. In a scenario where the heroines are only glam elements in a movie, the likes of Trisha hold their own and seek out women-of-substance roles. Anjali is another one who promises much in the acting department.

Director’s cut: Shankar continues with his larger-than-life efforts and I promises to be in the same mould. Mani Ratnam with Kadal and Gautham Menon with Neethane En Ponvasantham have both disappointed in recent times as did Ameer’s Aadhi Bhagavan. Will there be strong comebacks from these accomplished filmmakers? Bala won critical acclaim for Paradesi and his next effort is certainly worth waiting for. AR Murugadoss kept his reputation for full-on masala intact with Thuppakki and fans will enjoy the Bollywood version, we think.

Expect technical razzle-dazzle and great story-telling from Tollywood’s Rajamouli. A completely different sort of filmmaker, Blessy will make meaningful and entertaining films in Mollywood.

Meanwhile, there’s the new breed of directors, especially in Kollywood, willing to work with small budgets, non-stars and pull off great films. We look forward to more good stuff from the likes of Kalavani maker Sargunam, and Balaji Sakthivel who made Vazhakku En 18/9.

Big flicks: What to watch out for in the coming months – Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan is possibly the most-awaited film of recent times, replete with advanced technology. Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 evokes curiosity. And Ajith’s next with Vishnuvardhan is eagerly awaited, too. Dhanush-starrer Mariyaan has been surrounded by hype long before release, thanks also to AR Rahman’s musical score. Suriya’s Singam 2 is for action buffs.

Is Comedy the king? Comic films have done well of late in Kollywood, perhaps because the serious themes have struggled for good stories and have also been badly handled. So there’s been a spate – Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Kalakalappu, followed by Settai, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaya and Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, to be followed by Biriyani and the remake of Thillu Mullu. Frankly, we think that other than Naduvula… the rest were pretty jaded, flogging the same one-liners spouted by Santhanam and his league. Kedi Billa… with its no-story and sudden serious twist to send out a message was particularly galling. If South cinema wants to do comedy, it should think of smarter ways to do it.

Music, music: While there are complaints that Southern film music is not what it used to be, there’s plenty of melody coming our way. Ilayaraja’s score for Neethane En Ponvasantham and AR Rahman’s for Kadal were remarkable. Expect more from the maestros. Imman also promises hummable tunes. We could though do without all the gibberish that passes as lyrics!

So, get set for a fun ride at the movies down South and we’ll keep bringing you all that’s hot and happening.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Madhuri Dixit and Ranbir Kapoor have superb chemistry

The first look of item number Ghaagra, which has been the talk of B-town for quite some time, is out now

There couldn’t be a better day to give us a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit grooving together in Ayan Mukerji’s next Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani; its MD’s birthday today! While the Gulaab Gang actor looks like an absolute delight in a shiny ghaagra and sexy choli, Ranbir Kapoor is seen dancing to his heart’s content. The song gives a very Kajra re kind of a feel. But what made the director (Ayan) opt for Madhuri opposite the Kapoor kid? “We just wanted to give people the sheer pleasure of seeing Ranbir Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the same frame. Karan Johar came up with the idea. He had seen the two of them together in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and there was this interesting energy of a young boy and a woman who is slightly older,” he said.

While the makers wanted to create magic by bringing together two of the most sought-after stars, Ranbir is glad that he got to shake a leg with his childhood crush. He revealed in a recent interview that he will finally get to strike off one item from his wish list since his dream of dancing with Mads has now been fulfilled.

Must say Madhuri is looking deliciously sexy in the number. We especially love the orange ghaagra and royal blue choli that she’s wearing in one of the sequences. Don’t you think she manages to look like a chamyaa even at 46? And if you have a look at the signature step carefully (the way she is forming a ring with her thumb and index finger) , you will notice that it has a great similarity with the way she utters ‘perfect’ on JDJ while complimenting the participants in her own graceful style. Can’t wait to see the video now!

The Dirty Picture babe commanded media attention with her sizzling presence at the French Riviera

Just when we were wondering what Vidya ‘the ever vivacious’ Balan will be wearing at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, the 34-year-old star made her stunning presence felt at the red carpet in a gorgeous maroon outfit, much to the photographers’ delight. Just look at her! Isn’t she class personified in an outfit that is a fine blend of classiness and stylishness?

Created by ace designer – need we mention who – Sabyasachi Mukherjee, this maroon and black lehenga with a high neck, fully-covered choli made Vidya look every bit of a royal star. The detailed work on her dupatta and the intricately designed hemline of her lehenga added a touch Indian sophistication to the look.

The moment the Kahaani actor stepped out of a plush car, press photographers at the gala could not stop clicking and Vidya glowed like a true Indian queen in those unstoppable flashlights. The perfect combination of a subtle makeup and designer jewellery only accentuated Vidya’s calm, composed and confident personality. She just oozed that ‘ooh la la’ factor with her kohled eyes and that warm smile.

Vidya has been invited at the Cannes 2013 festival to be a part of the nine-member jury. She will be staying at the prestigious Martinez Hotel throughout the festival. And with a hot star like her around, the dignitaries are definitely going to feel the heat!

The Kamasutra 3D babe dons a pristine white bikini only to get…err dirty, and fuel our naughty imagination

Sherlyn Chopra grabs every opportunity that comes her way to show off her ‘much-exposed’ curves. After posing in her birthday suit for the notorious men’s magazine Playboy, the babe is gearing up for more ‘action’ and how!

Sherlyn will be seen in Rupesh Paul’s upcoming erotic film, Kamasutra 3D and her fans can’t wait enough to catch the desi damsel doing something unthinkable and unimaginable. But before doing a full Monty in the wild venture, Sherlyn makes sure that they get a generous dose of her bikini-clad figure. So here’s the Bigg Boss bootylicious sensation getting all dirty on a beach, leaving her hardcore fans cheering and whistling.

The curves the babe sports here are certainly eyeball grabbing, but the excessive air-brushing that has gone into making Sherlyn look flawless is equally commendable. Even Sherlyn will agree with us on this. Right, baby?

The actor, just like the Hollywood heartthrob, tells people to be aware and educated and take preventive measures against cancer

Manisha Koirala is a survivor, and a brave one at that. The Nepali beauty, who starred in some of the most memorable films in Bollywood, has been fighting cancer since the last few months, and we’re glad to report that she has come out successful.

Yesterday Manisha posted the good news on her Facebook page. “I burst out crying when I heard “cancer free” I still have long way to go for regaining my health, slowly n steadily..With your prayers n blessings I received during this phase I m sure that day too will come!!” said an ecstatic Manisha, who thanked her family, friends, fans and members of a cancer club for helping her through these tough times. And just before sharing the news, Manisha posted an article about how Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie opted for a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer, and how such a step is one of the safer ways to prevent the dreaded disease.

Well, seems like Manisha is in a great space right now. And from the pictures that she posted on Twitter, she is looking quite relaxed and fresh too. Welikes a lot!

Hrithik Roshan shops at Salman Khan’s Being Human store!

Looks like the two hunks have decided to put their once not-so-friendly equation behind. The Krrish 3 star even paid a surprise visit to Sallu’s Being Human store recently and shopped to his heart’s content

When the Greek God of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan made a surprise entry into Salman Khan’s Being Human store in suburban Mumbai recently, we could not help but wonder if the hunk has made amends with bhai. Remember all was not so well between the two superstars after Salman had ridiculed Hrithik in a press conference for his film Guzaarish. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali project was very close Hrithik’s heart and obviously he could not take Sallu’s caustic remark in lighter vein.

Salman too, being the brash and irreverent that he is, did not care to clear the air. Though reports said that he had a chat with Hrithik over the phone to settle the matter, the two maintained a respectable distance from each other, and the growing silence between the duo only made us speculate more. But now Hrithik’s visit to the Being Human store suggests that the Krrish 3 hero wants to put the past behind and just move on.

Hrithik was happy with the collection he saw at the store in Bandra. He even posed for pictures with the staff. Now, don’t we love it when our B-town folks simply resolve their misunderstandings quite amicably before the matters get blown out of proportion?
