Yes, the Band Baaja Baaraat actress is all set to flag off her second film as a producer

With NH1o, Anushka Sharma became the youngest producer in Bollywood. And though her first production venture is yet to hit the screens, the talented leggy lass has already decided to produce another film. Apparently, N10 writer Sudip Sharma will pen down this one as well. That’s not all! Navdeep Singh, who has directed the Anushka starrer NH10, will helm her second film too which we hear will mostly be shot abroad. Guess Ms Sharma is mighty impressed with Sudip and Navdeep or else why would she team with them once again, hai na? 

Talking about her production venture, Virat Kohli’s alleged girlfriend said, “I’ve always been a risk-taker, and setting up Clean Slate (production house), allows me to push the envelope even more. To collaborate with young, fresh minds to mount projects & create cinema that truly excites me – both personally and as a viewer.”

While the Dil Dhadakne Do actress is all geared up to don the producer’s hat once again, the casting is yet to be finalised. However, the production house will soon make an announcement regarding the same pretty soon.

Parineeti Chopra, who turned 26, marked the day by debuting on photo-sharing website Instagram. ”Birthdays are about doing something fun and interesting. This year I’ve decided to join Instagram, something I’ve been contemplating for a while now,” Parineeti said in a statement.

After joining the celebrity bandwagon on Instagram, the actress went a step further and chose a collage of fan’s selfies to be the first image on her account instead of her photograph with a caption that read “As promised!! You all and me #bday”.

She took to Twitter on Oct 15 to share the news and asked her fans to submit their selfies in association with Fluence, a celebrity digital network. She also posted a series of tweets urging her fans to submit wacky selfies.

In one of her Twitter posts on Oct 17, she wrote: “My 1st picture on Instagram HAS TO BE with you guys!! Send me some crazy selfies – the best ones will inaugurate my acc #ParineetionInsta.” ”So many lovely selfies already!! Get your friends along ..

“Lets see how many people you can fit in one selfie!!!! The more people in the picture, the better it is!!! ,” she posted further.

Illayathalapathy Vijay’s  Kaththi is probably the biggest release of Diwali this year. Any Vijay film has great expectations and the expectations are doubled when the hit jodi of AR Murugadoss and Vijay come together after Thuppakki. The producers have tactfully placed the release of the film at a festive period like Diwali to make the most out of the joyful mood of the masses.

Poojai

Another big release this Diwali is Vishal-Shruti Haasan starrer Poojai. Many consider it as a brave move from producer Vishal to take on a big film like Vijay’s Kaththi. But we think that the actor-producer has cleverly scheduled the release on Diwali day to make the maximum impact on the holiday mood of the audience.

Anegan

Dhanush-Amyra Dastur starrer KV Anand’s Anegan also released the much anticipated teaser on the eve of Diwali. Dhanush has enjoyed super success with VIP and with the Anegan teaser out on Diwali, we expect a good buzz to be developed around the film in coming days.

What’s it about

For those who love Vijay, Kaththi is a treat because it features the actor in two roles – Kathiresan and Jeevanandham. Vijay features in two roles – as social activist Jeevanandham and petty thief Kathiresan. The roles are opposite in character – Jeevanandham only thinks of society and wants to give back to it whereas Kathiresan is self-centred and only wants to make money for himself.

The movie takes off with Kathiresan escaping from prison in Kolkata and coming to Chennai where he meets Jeevanandham by a quirk of fate and ends up taking his place. Jeevanandham is fighting to save the farmlands of his village people from the corporate honchos (i.e. Neil Nitin Mukesh) who wants to buy it for a plant and use the water resources available. Kathiresan ends up taking Jeevanandham’s place and how he ends up saving the farmlands forms the rest of the story.

Sathish plays his friend while Samantha is his romantic interest. Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh is very good-looking and makes for an impressive corporate villain. One must commend him for the effort he has made to mimic the Tamil dialogues as the lip sync is near perfect.

Kaththi like the title suggest tries to be razor-sharp in its storyline and editing and does cut like a knife when it comes to its strong social message – in the name of development we are neglecting the famers who provide us our daily sustenance.

What’s good

Vijay has tried to make the two roles very distinct by being subdued and underplaying Jeevanandham while he’s over-the-top as Kathiresan. In fact, it is the emotional scenes that he essays as Jeevanandham that actually stand out in the film (like the scene where he’s beaten up by the cops and stripped to his underwear).

Samantha has essayed her role – as the pretty girl next door type – well (whatever there was of it). One must commend Neil Nitin Mukesh for the effort he has made to mouth the Tamil dialogues as the lip sync is near perfect.

Anirudh has done a great job with the BGM – the first he’s done for a big star. His songs are very different from the usual Vijay songs and has given a freshness to Vijay as well.

A R Murugadoss has made a film with a strong social message – the plight of famers in India today – and roped in a mass hero like Vijay to essay the protagonist. Both have done a good job.

What’s bad

Kaththi does have its loopholes and logic is defied at many points. For instance, Kathiresan is considered intelligent enough to escape from prison but he’s been caught by the cops 18 times. In another instance, Kathiresan takes Jeevanandham’s place in an old age home in Chennai as its manager and yet the cops can’t seem to locate him.

When it comes to the romance track between Samantha and Vijay, the director is not able to carry it off effortlessly. The romantic angle is not well etched out and Samantha just seems to be a prop in the film with some scenes in the first half and some in the second.

Despite such flaws, AR Murugadoss has managed to stick to the basic storyline and made an entertaining film with a social message.

What to do?

If you are a Vijay fan then you’ll obviously love this film! But even if you are not, watch this film because it is one of the best films in Vijay’s career. He has done plenty of inane masala films and deserves a pat on the back for experimenting with Kaththi. This is perhaps the first time he has done a film with a strong social message relevant to India today. And A R Murugadoss must be applauded for getting the actor into this new zone.

We are going to have a deja vu moment, it seems

It’s a known fact that Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are best buddies of B-town and that they would never think once before helping out each other. Last year, we saw how Salman wore Aamir’s bowler hat from Dhoom:3 on Bigg Boss 7 to promote his friend’s film. Even Aamir returned the Kick actor’s favour by starting a countdown on Twitter just days before Salman’s Jai Ho was going to the hit the theatres.

And looks like we are going to have a deja vu moment for Salman will be promoting Aamir’s upcoming film, PK, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Boman Irani on the ongoing eighth season of Bigg Boss.

But guess what? This time Salman will be seen wearing Aamir’s infamous transistor from PK. Well, we aren’t saying that. It’s Aamir himself, who confessed this at the teaser launch of the Rajkumar Hirani directorial, which was held today.

When asked if Salman will be promoting PK on Bigg Boss 8, the perfectionist Khan was quick to reply, “Yes, I have sent the transistor to him’” following a laugh.

Well, now we are really waiting to see if the Dabangg Khan would actually wear that transistor. What about you BollywoodLifers?

Farah Khan has reunited with SRK for the third time and looks like the duo is going to taste success with HNY too

Farah Khan’s musical extravaganza Happy New Year starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bahchcan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah will finally hit the screens tomorrow. For the last few days, the entire cast of the film has been doing everything they can to promote their latest film. From television shows, to multi city tours to endorsements, they have done it all.

Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma’s PK saw its much awaited teaser launch today. Where the teaser of the film has already gained appreciation by Karan Johar and Hrithik Roshan, some revelations made by Aamir at the launch cannot go unnoticed!As seen in the teaser, Aamir Khan’s character(PK) in the film, cherishes paan to the T. The actor is seen sporting red lips throughout, which speak of his love for paan all the more. The Satyamev Jayate host revealed that in order to get the look for his role, he had to chew on paan constantly, the number of the same going up till 100 per day!

“There was a paanwala on the sets of PK. After every shot, he would make a paan and give it to me,” said Aamir.

The fact was proven right by his director Rajkumar Hirani who said that number would at times exceed 100 even.

Well its safe to say that Aamir takes his roles a tad bit too seriously, right folks?

Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra today unveiled the teaser of their much-awaited film PK at an event. As expected, the teaser of Hirani’s directorial venture turned out to be entertaining and promising. But that’s not all! Hrithik Roshan and Karan Johar have also loved the teaser of Aamir-Anushka starrer. In fact, both of them even complimented Khan and his team on Twitter. The Bang Bang shared the link of the video and wrote, “This is incredible, Mr. @aamir_khan U r at another level! And Mr. raju hirani, u are a gifted soul..INCREDIBLE! Watch.”

The Koffee with Karan host also shared the link of PK teaser and tweeted, “Raju Hirani and Aamir Khan and the genius of #PK … mind is blown!!!!

Well, we aren’t surprised with the overwhelming response. After all, its coming together of three supremely talented artists – AK, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Chopra. What’s it about

Vishal plays Vasu, a moneylender, who is based in Coimbatore. Despite being from an addluent family, Vasu leaves his home (Radhika Sarathkumar plays his mother) due to certain issues and sets up his own business. Vasu leads a peaceful life and along the way meets Divya (Shruti Haasan) who hails from an affluent family. Not surprisingly, the two fall in love. Things start to go awry when Vasu gets into an altercation with Anna Thandavam (Mukesh Tiwari), who is a businessman and a contract killer. Vasu gets in the way of Anna Thandavam’s plot to murder ADSP Sivakkozhundhu. Vasu then becomes a target and he saves himself and gets the bad guys is the rest of the story.

What’s good

Like any typical masala Hari film, the movie is filled with action sequences, car chases and fights and Vishal has done a good job in them all. Hari has all the elements that an audience will want – action, comedy, drama, romance and a glam heroine. So the director manages to keep you engaged for the two hours and forty minutes.

Playing the action hero, Vishal fits the role to a T. This genre is not new to him as he done action flicks earlier. Shruti Haasan has gone all-out glam in Poojai, her third outing in the Tamil film industry. With Poojai, she has broken the jinx and is now part of a possible hit.

Soori and Pandi are the comic element in the flick and actually share some moments that make you laugh.

What’s bad

Some scenes seem to be repetitive so it could be irritants to the audience. The movie also could be trimmed a little and perhaps better editing would help this cause. The proportion of elements that Hari had thrown into Singam seem to be well thought out whereas in Poojai they seem to be disproportionate and just randomly thrown in.

What to do?

If you like action films then Poojai is for you. Don’t go looking for logic or a message – it’s a fun-filled flick which is entertaining and good time pass this Diwali.

The much-awaited teaser of PK is out and wethinks Aamir’s role bares uncanny resemblance to Rowan Atkinson’s iconic character Mr Bean

Aamir Khan’s highly anticipated film PK will hit the screens on December 19. However, the film has already garnered great buzz courtesy its posters and recently released teaser. While Bollywood bigwigs like Hrithik Roshan and Karan Johar went gaga over the PK teaser on Twitter, we couldn’t help but noticed one thing – Mr Perfectionist’s character PK reminded us of Mr Bean. Here’s why: Not only Khan’s expressions are weird in the teaser video but the B-town hunk also has his big eyes and ears just like Mr Bean. In fact, AK even flaunts them in the video. But the similarity between Aamir’s onscreen avatar and Rowan Atkinson’s popular onscreen character doesn’t end here.

In the PK teaser, Kiran Rao’s hubby doesn’t speak at all. He only talks through his actions. Well, if you have watched the Hollywood flick Mr Bean then you’ll know what exactly we are talking about. However, for those who haven’t, in Mr Bean even Rowan Atkinson has hardly any dialogues. He communicates mostly through his actions.

Even the slapstick comedy that you see in the PK teaser is somewhat like what you would get to see in 1997 Hollywood film Bean or 2007 film Mr Bean’s Holiday.

Abhishek Bachchan is one actor who has never shied away from doing multi-starrer films. What’s impressive is that he even manages to shine in such films. The film features Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah as well. While all the actors have equally meaty roles, we feel Abhi is the one to watch out for. Because not much is known about his character Nandu Bheede except for the fact that he is a tapori and loves alcohol.

When caught up with Boman recently, the versatile actor told us that Aishwarya Rai Bachcha’s hubby has the most amazing role in HNY. Paradesi actress gets chatty about her next film Kaaviya Thalaivan

The actress came into the film industry in 2006 but has only now won plaudits and praise from the audience and critics. 2013 seemed to be the turning point for Vedhika when Paradesi and Sringaravelan released in Tamil and Malayalam respectively. It was in Bala’s Paradesi that people discovered Vedhika was not just another pretty face but that she was talented and could pull off more than just the urban young girl. Her career in Malayalam cinema was cemented with Sringaravelan as it one of the biggest commercial successes of 2013.

Vedhika gets chatting to us about her next big flick in National Award-winning director Vasanthabalan’s Kaaviya Thalaivan, a period film, starring her and Siddharth.

What’s your role in Kaaviya Thalaivan like?

I play a 17-year-old girl called Vadivambal in Kaaviya Thalaivan. It’s the most challenging role I have played and it has a lot of scope for performance as well as dance. I had to don many get-ups in the film!

How was your experience with Siddharth?

Siddharth is a dedicated actor and has the curiosity of a child to learn more and more. He gets very involved with his character.

What expectations do you have from Kaaviya Thalaivan?

I’m happy with Kaaviya Thalaivan’s script and my role. I’ve had the opportunity to work with seven National Award-winning personalities and that is why I believe my expectations are already met! As an actor, I expect and wish to be a part of a good film, a fantastic team and play a demanding role. Once that is taken care of, we can be happy that as a team we have created an experience worthwhile for the audience.

What films are you doing in Malayalam now?

After my debut with Dileep sir in Sringaravelan which was a blockbuster, I have received a lot of love from the Kerala film industry and the audience. I am doing another film called Cousins with hit making director Vysakh and I’m cast opposite Kunchacko Boban. It’s again a fantastic team. I’m happy that in a span of less than a year I have had the opportunity to work with three Malayalam superstars – Dileep, Prithviraj and Kunchacko Boban.

Why do big star films elude you in Tamil though you are talented?

I have selected the best of the films I have been offered from and also been lucky to work with two National Award-winning directors back-to-back. I am thrilled to work twice with Oscar-winner A R Rahman. I believe one even rarely gets to be a part of even one of his films. I did do my degree in the UK simultaneously while I was working in films so that has restricted the number of films while I was studying. I am looking forward to acting with other talented cast and crew from our industry in the near future.

The actor seemed to be cautious not to reveal his look for Bajirao Mastani

Flamboyant actor Ranveer Singh shocked everyone when he announced that he would be going bald for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani. And as he had promised, the actor recently discarded his tresses, getting ready for the role of Peshwa Bajirao. 

While the shooting for SLB’s Bajirao Mastani has already started, the actor-director duo seem to be cautious enough to not to give away the bald look. Recently at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Diwali bash, Ranveer was spotted sporting a hat covering his tonsured look for the film. The spontaneous actor was snapped striking a fun pose along with Queen actress Kangana Ranaut , who was also invited to SLB’s party.

The actor is also speculated to be going on an exile to prepare for the role of Bajirao. And these pics of Ranveer, could be the last of him for a long time . Going by the meticulous style of filmmaking which SLB resorts to, it came as no surprise to many that Ranveer didn’t remove his hat during the entire party.

The actors and director opened up about the film at the trailer launch event

Superstar Aamir Khan, often touted as Bollywood’s perfectionist, says his role in upcoming comedy-drama PK is one of the challenging roles of his more than two decade long career.

The 49-year-old actor released the Rajkumar Hirani-directed film’s first trailer on the occasion of Diwali. ”I have been working for the last 25 years and PK is by far my toughest role in my career. I have not blinked in the movie. We had discussed a lot about shaping up my character but we felt everyt ime that something is missing,” Aamir, who would be seen in a quirky avatar, said.

In the film, Aamir’s character is an admirer of betels. ”PK is fond of paan. I am too. During the shooting of the film I must have consumed near about 100 paans. There used to be a paanwala on the set for us,” Aamir said.

PK would be the second collaboration between Aamir and the National-award winning director after super hit film 3 Idiots. Hirani took five years to complete the film. ”When I was finishing 3 Idiots I realised that I should start my next film and at that point of time I and Abhijat (Joshi) went for a walk at Borivli National Park. And there we thought of PK and then Abhijat went to USA. And we used to discuss the topic and thus the film happened. It took five years to finish because the script took a long time as we tried to convey a strong message in an entertaining way,” Hirani said.

Anushka Sharma plays the female lead in the film and she would be seen in a completely new look. ”I am very excited to play the role in PK. When we were doing costume trial we went for different looks with the wigs and glasses. And finally when the look worked out I am getting a lot of compliment specially all the girl wants to have a hairstyle like me,” said Anushka, who was also present at the event.

The Singham Returns actor talks about his upcoming film Action jackson

Ajay Devgn has no qualms in shaking a leg for Prabhudeva’s upcoming film Action Jackson and the superstar says he is happy that the director has given him a chance to star in the movie.

In the film, whose trailer was launched recently, Ajay would be seen doing some sleek action and dance moves.

“The kind of style Prabhudeva presented in Action Jackson is a new stuff and am happy to be a part of this film. This is the first time in my career when I did rehearsals before my dance performance in the film.

“I think Prabhudeva is also a director who knows an actor’s plus point and keeping that point he has utilised my dance talent and gave it a new look. It was fun and I have given my best. Now the audience will decide,” Ajay said during the trailer launch of the film.

This is not the first time that the Rowdy Rathore filmmaker is teaming up with Ajay. They collaborated few years ago but the film got shelved.

“It was almost 20 years ago when we were both young. But the film got shelved,” Ajay said.

The Singham star said he did not make any specific abs for playing the tough guy. Rather, he concentrated on making a strong body. ”I don’t have six or eight packs but what Prabhudeva wanted a tough body that I have. As there are many action sequence, I had worked out a lot. A month’s effort was needed. It’s a hard job to maintain a fit body,” said the actor. Apart from the hard-hitting action sequences, Ajay is also seen romancing two female leads — Sonakshi Sinha and Yami Gautam — in the trailer.

The 45-year-old father of two said his family loved the trailer. ”Kajol has not gone to the set. But whatever teaser you people saw she has seen that too… And she she has liked it. My daughter also loved the trailer,” he said. The film is expected to hit theatres on December 5.
