With lavish critical praise coming his way for Bajirao Mastani, will Ranveer Singh sweep the ‘Best Actor’ trophy come award season ?

A lot has changed on December 18 for Ranveer Singh. With the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani, Ranveer Singh has delivered his career best performance. A lot was at stake for the actor who hasn’t had a critic friendly performance since the 2013 art house offering Lootera. So it was obvious that there would be a lot of eyebrows raised when Sanjay Bhansali announced that his Bajirao Peshwa would be played by the over enthusiastic and loud Ranveer Singh. “This is suicidal, is he out of his mind?”, was the sentiment of a leading trade expert.

But everything changed with the release of Bajirao Mastani. Ranveer not only shut his haters and naysayers but also went on to deliver his carer best performance. His Peshwa Bajirao is as real as we can get to the historical character. The cool swag and those fashion choices are forgotten as he slinks into Peshwa’s armour and becomes the Maratha warrior. After watching the film a lot of critics are of the opinion that Ranveer is on his way of taking home majority of the awards next year.

So far the front runners in the Best Actor category are Varun Dhawan in Badlapur, Amitabh Bachchan in Piku, Ranbir Kapoor in Tamasha, Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. With his stellar performance in Bajirao Mastani the actor has a good chance of creating an upset and stealing the trophy right under the nose of his peers. Given the fact that most awards have a popular and critics category, Ranveer has a strong chance of winning either of the two.

The actor plays a hilarious game with us…

Varun Sharma a.k.a Siddhu from Dilwale was hilarious in the movie and we loved his comic timing and his masti along with his buddy Varun Dhawan a.k.a Veer in the film. In real life to the actor is very funny, but very shy at the same time. However, it doesn’t stop him from answering anything.

So when we met up with the actor, we played the controversial kill, marry and hook-up game with him. While he was initially excited about the game, the questions stunned him. But he answered all of them amazingly. Here is what he had to say -

# When we gave him a choice of Kajol, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta, he started laughing and asked us what this game was all about. A shy Varun, answered after a lot of consideration that he would marry Kajol, hook up with Madhuri Dixit and kill Preity Zinta.

# When we asked him to chose between Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon and Shraddha Kapoor, he said, ” I would marry Kriti, hook up with Alia and kill Shraddha.”

# Last but not the least, when we asked him to chose between Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor, he was shocked. He exclaimed, “What are you doing to me!” But he went on to reveal that he would marry Priyanka, hook up with Deepika and kill Sonam.

The actress is all set to steam up the silver screen with his Ek Paheli Leela co-star…

Last time we saw Sunny Leone and Rajniesh Duggal together, we were blown away with their sizzling chemistry and hot love making scenes. But wait, there is more coming your way! The two actors are all set to collaborate again in Beimaan Love, directed by journalist-cum-filmmaker Rajeev Chaudhari. The film is a dark love story about a romance and betrayal. And the duo are going to steam up the screen again.

We hear that Sunny Leone has six lovemaking scenes in Beimaan Love, with co-star Rajneesh Duggal. However the director isn’t apprehensive of the censor’s scissors. As he reveals, “Those six love making scenes are as a montage in one love song. Sunny and Rajniesh have an amazing chemistry. They actually look like they are in love! The spirit of the song is pure love and will be loved and appreciated by all, including the censors! I am sure the censors won’t cut anything in my film!”

Now that’s what we call wishful thinking! Earlier, the first poster from Beimaan Love were revealed and it showcased Sunny and Rajniesh turning up the heat as the two lovers are seen engaged in an intense eye lock while in a bathtub. The film has been shot in Dubai and Mumbai and is all set to hit the screens in 2016. The trailer hasn’t been unveiled yet, however a few sizzling pictures of Sunny Leone from the movie have been released. The release date is expected to be announced soon.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale was one of the most anticipated film. Not only for his fans, but for the industry as well, this film was highly important because this would give it the chance to close 2015 on a high note. But it wasn’t too smooth a ride to the theatres for the film. Shah Rukh Khan’s intolerance statement a few months back returned to haunt his film when many shows got cancelled due to the protests. But despite that and a stiff competition from Bajirao Mastani, the film has managed to wow the audience and pocket some good moolah. In the domestic circuit, the film had earned 21 cr on its first day with the overseas total resting at 9.22 cr. Now, we have the total count of money it amassed on its first day overseas which stands at an impressive $3.4million or 22.61 cr!

Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Dilwale opens to IMPRESSIVE numbers Overseas. Fri total: $ 3.4 million [₹ 22.61 cr]. SUPER!” This is a superb news for Shah Rukh Khan and his fans who have been watching his film again and again. They have been relentless in their drive to make their superstar’s entertaining film a big hit. Why wouldn’t they? This is Shah Rukh Khan’s single release this year and for his fans, it is nothing less than a festival.

Yesterday one of the grandest episodes on television took place as Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan reunited on Bigg Boss 9. If you remember, Salman Khan was teasing us by showing that he is getting calls from Shah Rukh Khan and is on his way to the show. He even started saying that we should toss the fights, the controversies and the eliminations in the bin, as Shah Rukh Khan is coming to the Bigg Boss house!

And they made the most of it. They took a Selfie together first snd we admit that’s the most cutest one ever. The duo looked SMASHING together and it makes us want them to work together again. Well, why not? They just might!

The actor reveals a few interesting choices that he would take in a fun game with us…

Dilwale, which released this Friday, has been performing well at the box and the cast of the film which includes Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma and a few others, are over joyed with the response the film has got. Before the film released, we had a fun and interactive chat session with Varun Sharma a.k.a Siddhu from Dilwale.

While interviewing the funny actor, who was answering all my questions with enthusiasm and some thought, I made him play a fun rapid fire session and he gave us a few interesting choices.

# He chose a romantic song, Gerua over the peppy number, Manma Emotion Jaage.

# He was divided over the pairing of Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol and Varun Dhawan-Kriti Sanon, but chose the pair of SRK-Kajol first.

# He wasn’t even able to decide if he would want to date Kajol or Kriti too. In fact he chose the girl paired opposite him to save himself in the game.

# He even triumphantly claimed that he would want to work again with Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan. But if he had to chose only one, he would chose SRK first, rather than Varun Dhawan coz it is everyone’s dream to work with the superstar. However, he mentioned that Dhawan is the best co-star one could get!

Priyanka Chopra talked about the Nirbhaya case at the trailer launch of Jai Gangaajal

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra today opposed the release of the juvenile convict in the December 16 gangrape case, an incident she desrcibed as “heinous” and “unforgivable”. The 33-year-old actress, who was present here at the trailer launch of her upcoming film Jai Gangaajal, asked by reporters about the release of the juvenile on Sunday.

“It is something I don’t agree with. It’s such a heinous crime its unforgivable. I am a law abiding citizen so I’ll go with whatever the law decides but it was too heinous a crime…,” Priyanka told reporters here.

The convict was released on December 20 after the Supreme Court in a post-midnight order declined to stay the release of the juvenile offender in response to a Special Leave Petition filed by the the Delhi Commission for Women.

His release saw protests by the victim’s distraught parents who assailed the Centre and Delhi government for failing to get them justice.

Jai Gangaajal director Prakash Jha, who was also present at the event, said education is the solution to decrease the rate of juvenile crime. ”In general, I am trying to say that reduce the rate of juvenile to 16 years.. You cannot generalise. Whether you reduce it to 16 years, do you mean to 15-year old cannot commit that crime. That is not the solution… It’s a bigger debate. It is education, major education which is needed.”

The convict, along with five others, had gangraped and murdered the 23-year-old paramedical student in a moving bus on December 16, 2012.

The Sultan actor just can’t seem to hide his relationship anymore

YES this is happening! Salman Khan, who was busy shooting for his forthcoming film Sultan directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is all set to put an official stamp on his relationship and that too on his birthday.

A source close to the star EXCLUSIVELY told us that the Romanian television presenter Iulia Vantur will be present for Salman Khan’s birthday bash to be held at his Panvel farmhouse like every year. The grand occasion will be even grander for Bhai who is going to introduce Iulia as his girlfriend on that day.

Now that Salman has been acquitted in the hit and run case, all eyes are set on his next big announcement. No, it is not regarding signing any big budget film but about his personal life. In an interview earlier, the actor was quoted saying that he doesn’t think of getting married due to the 2002 hit and run case that was ongoing at that point of time. In fact none of these letters are with him. Ranveer has framed and locked each and everyone of it in his bank locker. He says, “I got my first award this morning! Mr Bachchan sent me a letter! I find it difficult to express in words what that means to me. I have such a deep connect with Mr Bachchan and admiration. He’s sent me a few notes for some of my performances, every time I get a hand written letter, I frame it and it doesn’t even stay in the house. It goes directly to my bank locker. That’s how much value I have for it. So my trophies are kept on display in the house and his letters, my most prized possessions are locked up in the bank account.”

Viewers, it’s time for Ranveer’s vendetta. Yes, after a week or two of separation, the lovebirds Ranveer (Shakti Arora) and Ishaani (Radhika Madan) will come together but it won’t be a loving reunion for the passionate couple.

In the coming episodes, we will see Ranveer befriending Naina (Aakanksha Juneja), who plays the role of Nirbhay’s (Mohit Abrol) sister. She will play a disabled character, whom Ranveer will impress in order to gain an entry into Nirbhay’s household.

We will see Ranveer letting a dog loose on Naina. She will be petrified as she is unable to walk or speak. Later on, we will see Naina overcoming her problems with Ranveer’s love. However, his agenda behind this will be to get access to Ishaani and destroy her.

Fans will also come to know the real motive why Nirbhay wants to harm Ranveer. Apparently, he thinks that it’s he who is responsible for his wife’s death. He will be seen torturing Ishaani by asking her to be his servant or his wife in the coming episodes of Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi.

Last night, we saw how angered Ranveer is about life and women after Ishaani’s supposed betrayal. He has started thinking badly about women. Hahah…I haven’t made any because I am doing double triple shifts in a day. I am sure Sargun (Sargun Mehta) will give me a surprise. She always does. I am too busy with Jamai Raja and my film, 3 Dev. Even if I get half the day off it will be too much.

Excited for 2016
I have a lot to look forward to in 2016. There is my film, 3 Dev and Sargun’s Punjabi film. Jamai Raja is also shaping up really well and I have some investments planned as well. There is a lot on my plate.

Need to unwind
My biggest goal for the coming year is to take out four-five days in a month for myself. I love to spend time chilling out with my buddies but I haven’t been able to do so this year. I love my work but I would like a little time to just let my hair down.

Down memory lane
I grew up in Delhi and used to eagerly look forward to my birthday. In those days, we had no malls, video games or multiplexes, so such occasions were looked forward to in a much bigger manner. I loved those kiddie parties my parents threw and I used to open my presents even before my friends left my house.

Dream guest list
If I had an opportunity to invite some dream guests for my birthday party, I would send invitations to Monica Bellucci, Cameron Diaz and Chitrangada Singh. I find these women extremely hot.

Life of my party
The three people I can’t do without at my party are Sargun, Rithvik Dhanjani and Teejay Sidhu. The new additions to the list would be Karan Singh Grover and Kunal Roy Kapur. Rithvik and Teejay take cool to a new level altogether and are absolutely fun to be with.

Best gift
A lady has sent me a lovely sketch. It is beautiful and made so painstakingly. I have been getting quite a few gifts from fans, which past two-three days. Love you all.

Shah Rukh Khan talks about Dilwale and his upcoming film Fan…

Dilwale, with its elements of comedy, action, romance and drama, has turned out to be a true-blue commercial Bollywood potboiler. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan says the film never “pretended” to be something else, and if audiences want a novel concept, they should wait for Fan. ”If you’re looking for novelty, then you should watch out for Fan. It’s a different kind of film, supposed to be a niche… It’s not meant to be a blockbuster releasing ahead of Christmas,” Shah Rukh told a news portal.

Fan, directed by Maneesh Sharma, features Shah Rukh as Gaurav, a fan of Shah Rukh Khan, the superstar. The actor-producer believes that “films and storytelling are novel in the storytelling of it, unless you have a completely niche or offbeat subject, and you take a subject not touched upon”.

For Dilwale, he was clear that it was meant to be an “in-the-face” commercial entertainer. Directed by Rohit Shetty, who’s known for his stylish action and comic scenes, the movie has impressed Bollywood buffs, primarily SRK’s fans. Starring Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Mishra and Johnny Lever, Dilwale, released on Friday.

Shah Rukh says the film was clearly made within the “parameters that are clearly defined for a commercial film”. ”Dilwale is an unabashedly popular commercial film. It’s not pretending to be something else. It’s meant to be watched by everyone — it has romance, comedy, drama. I don’t even think that having Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan is a novelty factor as it’s just that we are doing a film together after a long time. ”Within that scape, if you’re looking for something, then Rohit Shetty has not had much a love-based storyline or relationship aspect in his films as he is more known for action and comedy. That will be novelty for Rohit. But if you ask me generically, no ‘Dilwale‘ is not reinventing cinema. It’s a fun commercial movie.”

Amitabh Bachchan lauds Bajirao Mastani

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has lauded filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest release Bajirao Mastani and is now curious to watch Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale. Big B has called Bhansali a “master behind the camera” and have labelled actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, who are a part of the film as “extraordinary talent”.

“Blessed to be in times of BajiRao Mastani the film by a master behind the camera and a host of extraordinary talent in front of it,” the 73-year-old tweeted on Tuesday night. He also shared that he is waiting to see filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, which stars Bollywood’s iconic couple Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.  ”And I wait to see the other, delectable Dilwale soon … as promised to SRK and Kaajol last night,” he added.

Meanwhile, the cinematic icon is currently shooting for TE3N along with actors Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Kolkata. The film is slated to hit the screens in 2016. He will next be seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s forthcoming film Wazir, which also stars actor Farhan Akhtar, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Aditi Rao Hydari. Wazir is slated to hit the screens on January 8.

Salman Khan, who will be bringing in his 50th birthday on December 27, is taking time off from the shoot of Bigg Boss 9. That doesn’t mean he won’t be appearing in this weekend’s episodes.

Usually, the show is shot on Saturdays, but this weekend, the actor will be shooting for the show a day in advance. Says a source, “Salman said that he wanted to take an off for his birthday as he wanted to celebrate it with his close friends and family at his farmhouse in Panvel. So, the makers decided to shoot it on Friday instead.”

A grand celebration is in store for Salman’s milestone birthday on the show, too. Says a source, “During his last birthday the celebrations were offline with the crew of Bigg Boss. This time, since it’s a landmark birthday, the housemates will also be involved. In fact they are planning a surprise for their superstar host. There is a possibility of Salman going inside the house and cutting a cake.”

While last week Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, made an appearance on the show to promote their film – Dilwale, this week Sunny Deol will be a part of the special episode as he will be visiting the sets to promote his upcoming film, Ghayal Once Again. The couple brought their daughter home secretly last week…

Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra have brought their precious baby daughter, Adira to their Juhu home a few days ago. Now, the new parents are adjusting with the changes that happen with a baby’s arrival. Rani and Aditya were blessed with their first child on December 9 when the actress delivered a baby girl at the Breach Candy hospital, Mumbai. The proud parents named their lil angel as Adira- a combination of Aditya and Rani!

About the latest development, a source says, “Rani and Adi brought back Adira without any fuss or ceremony from the hospital last week. There was no grand puja or anything. Now the baby’s naamkaran or christening ceremony will happen after a few weeks. The couple is now getting used to a small baby’s needs which includes staying awake in the night, but both are thoroughly enjoying this new role.”

Soon after her baby’s arrival, Rani had released an official announcement stating, “I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives.”

The new parents of tinsel town are also building a brand new house in Juhu. The duo have bought not one but two plots of land where their palatial bungalows are under construction for now. Juhu is the residing area for many other A-listers which make it an apt location for their new house. Adi’s earlier work pad in the same vicinity will now be reconstructed as their second bungalow which is just half an hour drive from Yash Raj Studios. Incidently Rani’s parents’ also reside in Yaari Road that is very close to the couple’s new house.
