As 2015 comes to an end, a few look aback at what has gone by and a few look ahead at what will happen in 2016. This year has been a great year for Bollywood and with an even more exciting list of films listed for next year, we are eager for 2016 to come. There are many films coming out next year, but this are the top 10 films that you should definitely see:
1. Raees
Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Director: Rahul Dholakia
Release: Eid 2016
Shah Rukh Khan will play Raees, a Gujarati don who has an illegal alcohol business. SRK’s brawny and bearded avatar amazed one and all. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui who plays a tough policeman and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in the lead role.
2. Sultan
Cast: Salman Khan, Randeep Hooda, Amit Sadh
Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Relase: Eid 2016
Salman Khan play the role of Kesari Sultan, a wrestler from Haryana. The movie, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has begun shooting in Mumbai and is set to release on Eid 2016. It is set to clash with friend Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. The movie will also feature Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh.
3. Fan
Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Waluscha D’Sousa
Director: Maneesh Sharma
Release: April 15, 2016
Shah Rukh Khan plays a double role in Fan. He plays the role of a superstar (Aryan Khan) and his biggest fan (Gaurav). Gaurav’s obsession to meet Aryan and how he tries to meet him time and again. Will he be able to meet his idol? Or will his dreams be crushed?
4. Mohenjo Daro
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi
Director: Ashutosh Gowariker
Release: August 12, 2016
Mohenjo Daro is an upcoming historical, adventure-romance film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film features Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. It is a period adventure and love story set during the Indus Valley Civilization.
5. Rangoon
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut
Director: Vishal Bhardwaj
Release: October 2, 2016
The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan, is set against the backdrop of World War II. Rangoon is a classic tale that will have the musical charm of Moulin Rouge, the romance of Casablanca and the intensity and drama of Saving Private Ryan. Like Saving Private Ryan, Rangoon too is set against the backdrop of World War II. It also has a Casablanca type of love-triangle too.
6. Dangal
Cast: Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra
Director: Nitish Tiwari
Release: Christmas 2016
Dangal is inspired by the real life story of former wrestler Mahavir Phogat, who trains his two daughters in wrestling in an orthodox village of Haryana. The two daughters go ahead and make India proud as they win medals at the world wrestling championship. Aamir Khan plays the wrestler (Mahavir Phogat) and for playing this role he had to gain more than 20 kgs. Dangal, which is being directed by Nitish Tiwari, has already started and is slated to release in December 2016.
7. Housefull 3
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez
Director: Sajid-Farhad
Release: June 3, 2016
The third part of this hit franchise is going to hit next year. With a rejigged cast the film promises a lot of masti and action. This time the film will be directed by Sajid-Farhad.
8. Jai Gangajal
Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Prakash Jha
Director: Prakash Jha
Release: March 4, 2016
Priyanka Chopra has donned the khaki uniform for the film, which will hit the screens on March 4 next year. The movie, will narrate the nexus between police, society and politicians. Jai Gangaajal is not a sequel to Prakash Jha’s 2003 film Gangaajal which starred Ajay Devgn in the lead role.
9. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Cast: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan
Director: Karan Johar
Release: Diwali 2016
Filmmaker Karan Johar’s next directorial venture Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will feature Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan in pivotal roles. The film is Karan’s dream project. We hear that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a tale of unrequited love and heartbreaks. Saif Ali Khan plays Aishwarya’s husband in the movie, while Ranbir and Anushka play each other’s love interests. It won’t be a happy masala entertainer, instead ADHM will deal with somber emotions and rough patches in relationships. Reports also suggest that the film is inspired by Rishi Kapoor’s Doosra Aadmi. The 1977 film was about a bereaved working woman (played by Rakhee Gulzar) who falls in love with a much younger man (played by Rishi Kapoor) because he resembles her dead lover.
10. Shivaay
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Sayesha Saigal
Director: Ajay Devgn
Release: Diwali 2016
Shivaay is a high-octane action drama film which stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role along with Sayesha Saigal, grand niece of legendary actor Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Apart from playing the lead role in the movie, Ajay Devgn is also directing the film and will be seen doing some high flying action sequences in the film.

# Neerja – The film is a biopic on the life of a 23 year old Pan Am flight 73 air hostess who lost her life saving people on board the flight after terrorists took over the plane. Directed by Ram Madhvani and starring Sonam Kapoor, the film is set to release on February 19, 2016.
# MS Dhoni : The Untold Story - Another biopic in the making. The story of the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup winner, MS Dhoni’s life story will be depicted in the film. Directed by Neeraj Pandey and starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kiara Advani, the film is set to release on September 2, 2016.
# Kapoor and Sons - Sid and Fawad play brothers in the film and the story of Kapoor and Sons revolves around them. One of the brothers comes out of the closet concerning his sexuality and the drama that follows. Directed by Shakun Batra and starring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan, Kapoor and Sons Since 1921 will hit the screens on 18 March, 2016.
# Ki and Ka- Directed by R. Balki, the film is about a couple where the wife is the working member of the family and the husband is the housemaker. Here the wife is elder and more mature, while the husband is younger and naive. The day-to-day life drama and crisis make up the film. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor, the film is set to release on April 1, 2016.
# Airlift - Airlift is the story of Indians stranded in Kuwait during an Iraqi invasion. The film follows the story of how they, with the help of Ranjit Katyal, managed to survive the situation, and against all odds traveled a thousand kilometers across the border into Amman, Jordan. From Amman, 1,70,000 Indians were brought to India by the largest and the most successful evacuation ever attempted by any country, in the history of the world. Over 59 days, the Indian government systematically flew over 488 Air India commercial flights into a war zone to evacuate all 1,70,000 Indians and safely bring them back home. Starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur and directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film is set to release on January 22, 2016.
