The legendary actor complained of cough and breathlessness

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has wished his Deewar co-star Shashi Kapoor a speedy recovery after he has been hospitalised for chest infection.

Bachchan, who also shared screen space with the actor in Trishul, Silsila, Kabhie Kabhie, Namak Halaal among others, took to Twitter to give his best wishes.

“May the Almighty be by the side of one that has been ill in Hospital for a few days and make him his usual self again ..!” he tweeted.

Kapoor, 76, was admitted on September 21 to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after he complained of acute cough and breathlessness.

Arya to use Bigg Boss for new phase as author

Actor-politician Raj Babbar’s son Arya has joined the celebrity bandwagon on Bigg Boss 8 and one of his key motives is to expand the market for a book he has authored, via the reality show. He’s also confident of winning the show.

What brought him to “Bigg Boss? “The money, of course. It’s good. But the real reason is the book that I’ve written. It gets published in January. I hope to express myself on what I’ve written in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. When I come out as a winner – of course I’ll win – I hope to have a relatively larger readership,” he said before entering the show.

Arya sees “Bigg Boss” as a new beginning. “It was 12 years ago that I made my debut as a leading man (in films) with ‘Ab Ke Baras’. Now I am heading into another phase in my life as an author. ‘Bigg Boss’ is a good vehicle to take me into the new level in my life,” he said,

He is here to win. “I haven’t come here to while away my time for a few weeks. I want to go all the way. It’s always been that way for me. I don’t believe in half-measures,” said the young actor. The show is all about bickering, backbiting, plotting and planning, and Arya, who knows he has a “low tolerance level” plans to “surprise everyone who will watch me on the show”.

“I promise you I’ll make my parents proud,” he said. Of course, Arya will raise his voice if the need arises. “I’ve learnt to hold my peace in recent times. But if I see something wrong happening in the house, I won’t keep quiet,” he said. The show is aired on Colors.

Day 2 in BB08 Airlines was certainly full of drama. Until yesterday, all the contestants were together, laughing and cracking jokes. But on the second day, we not only got to witness the first break down of this season, but also mild arguments between some contestants. Here’s taking a look at some highlights, that made episode 3 of Bigg Boss 8 an entertaining watch.

First fight between the probable lovebirds - Upen Patel and Sukirti Kandpal might have gotten along like a house on fire on day 1, but these two probable lovebirds had an argument, post which Sukirti broke down. And the surprising bit was that rather than consoling her, Upen further snapped at Sukirti and told her to stop the drama. Well, as they say, what’s love without sparks.

Gautam Gulati and Diandra Soares get naughty - The Secret Society bestowed upon the passengers another task that left the house mates zapped. Two contestants were asked sacrifice their freedom of movement. Diandra and Sushant Divgikar were chosen to perform the task. Covered in mud, they were made to stand in a classic Michael Jackson pose with their hands in the air. However, the interesting bit was when Gautam Gulati was removing all the mud from Diandra’s legs. And all we could do is just watch with raised eyebrows.

Sonali Raut becomes the villain - Blame it on her shy nature, other inmates are not able to gel with her, due to which she is being sidelined by everyone. Too bad for her, maybe she didn’t care to watch previous seasons to know how it works inside that house of horrors.

The Bigg Boss contestant is one of the topmost favourites for the show

Sushant Divgikar, the winner of Mr.Gay India 2014, hopes that his presence on the reality show Bigg Boss 8 can change perceptions of people about the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community. “I think I can sensitise the people about my community by being the face of LGBT community in ‘Bigg Boss’,” Sushant told from Mumbai before entering the show, which began Sunday night.

The past seasons of “Bigg Boss” have seen names like Bobby Darling, Rohit Verma, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi and Begum Nawazish Ali, as LGBT representatives. On his part, Sushant says he would feel overwhelmed if his presence on the show inspired someone to come out of the closet.

What if someone makes a personal remark on his sexuality? ”Your reaction reflects your upbringing. I would deal with the situation according to the intensity of the comment,” said Sushant, who has a double masters degree in psychology. However, he has no intentions of using it to his advantage in the reality show. The model entered the show “without any expectations” and is looking forward to having a great time.

He calls himself technology challenged, and has no hang ups about leaving behind his phone and gadgets to enter the world of “Bigg Boss”. ”I’m glad to leave my phone outside. It doesn’t cripple you in any way and makes you realise that you can live without your phone,” he said.

However, Sushant is apprehensive about being disconnected with the world. ”Not knowing what is happening around the world is frustrating for me. I need my intellectual stimulation from time to time,” he said. The eighth season of “Bigg Boss” is beamed on Colors channel.

Despite the secrecy and blurred faces the identity of these 3 contestants is out in public

Bigg Boss 8 has started its new season on a sour note. Despite the hoopla of trying to do something different and change the format, the idea of using the concept of three secret society members early on in the show hasn’t really worked. As per the new idea, three participants on the show have been granted immunity from nomination and also special rights and privileges where they can make the rest of the contestants dance to their tunes. Sounds interesting right ?

Unfortunately the identity of these three contestants - Deepshikha Nagpal, Puneet Issar and RJ Preetam was leaked on the day of the premier. The information being made public it didn’t‘ really serve a great purpose in blurring their faces and keeping their names away from the common public. Also most of the contestants have already been able to guess from their voices who these 3 secret society members are!

Tonight’s episode showed a preview that in Wednesday’s episode the 3 members will remove the hoods off their face and show their real identities to everyone. However, the stunt seems lame given the fact that this was established in the beginning itself. We hope that Bigg Boss 8 has some better and more interesting twists and turns lined up in the show in the near future!

The couple has left their inhibitions under the influence of the truth serum, but will they lose themselves too

In the previous episode of Qubool Hai we saw how Tanveer (Amrapali Gupta) tries to play spoilsport in Aahil (Karanvir Bohra) and Sanam’s (Surbhi Jyoti) love life. She mixes something in Sanam’s food, but again things don’t go according to her plan. Accidentally it gets exchanged with a truth serum.

Under the influence of the truth serum, Aahil confesses his feelings for Sanam and reveals how he has always been in love with her. They get lost and dance around romantically.

In the upcoming episode, Aahil reveals the secret of his past to her. He tells her about his childhood, his father’s murder and the role Tanveer played to save him. Sanam is shocked by this news and hugs Aahil to console him. Aahil and Sanam get close physically and emotionally, but will they finally consummate their marriage?

Surraiya does not want her son Zain to marry Aaliya

Previously we had reported that Zain (Harshad Arora) was getting married to Aaliya (Preetika Rao). However, the proceedings were interrupted by Surraiya (Suchitra Pillai) and Zarina (Kamya Punjabi) who were not happy with the couple’s decision to get married. Later they were informed about ‘Nikah Halala’, which means Aaliya will have to marry another man and divorce him before remarrying Zain. The lead pair was shocked with the news.

In yesterday’s episode Zain gets into an argument with Surraiya and Zarina over his marriage. Aaliya too gets upset with Shabana and Ghulam for stopping her from getting back with Zain. On the other hand, Zarina makes a plan with Surraiya to stop Zain from reuniting with Aaliya.

In tonight’s episode, Zarina will send a few goons to bring Zain back in Barkath villa. Zain will then get into a brawl with the goons, which will prove fatal for Aaliya’s love interest. He will be hit on his head and hence will fall unconscious.

The film is India’s official entry to the 87th Academy Awards. Here are some unknown facts related to the film

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Geetanjali Thapa’s Liar’s Dice has become India’s official entry to the Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. Geethu Mohandas’ Hindi film Liar’s Dice, has been selected by a pre-appointed 12-member jury, which was headed by director T Hariharan. There are loads of facts that are yet unknown to the common man. So we decided to bring some of them to our reader. Here is a list of 10 unknown facts about the film:

-The film was pitted against several films before it was selected as India’s official entry at the Oscars this year. In addition to Hindi films such as Shahid, Queen, Mary Kom, Mardaani and 2 States, regional films Fandry (Marathi), Yellow (Marathi), Apur Pachali (Bengali)and Jatishwar (Bengali) were also considered.

-The film, which has been set all along the Himachal-Tibet border, deals with issue of migration.

-The film has been shot at the Chitkul village in Kinnaur district, Shimla, and many other locations in Delhi including the famous Jama Masjid.

-Such has been the impact of the film that bagged two National Film Awards including, Best Actress for Geetanjali Thapa and Best Cinematography for Rajeev Rai at the 61st National Film Awards.

-Liar’s Dice is Geethu Mohandas’ first Hindi film and her second directorial venture.

Contrary to the reports, the Shuddh Desi Romance actor hasn’t walked out of Shekhar Kapur’s ambitious project

Sushant Singh Rajput is still a part of Shekhar Kapur’s magnum opus Paani. Since the film has been delayed once again, rumours were rife that the Pavitra Rishta actor wasn’t happy with the development and therefore, backed off from the project. However, that’s not the case. How do we know, you ask? Well, Sushant’s spokesperson has released an official statement rubbishing all the reports about him quitting Kapur’s directorial venture.

The statement read: “We were very amused to read speculations that Sushant Singh Rajput is not in Paani due to a variety of absurd reasons. There is absolutely NO truth to it. Sushant keeps a low profile and let’s his work speak for itself. He has recently completed Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and is deep in preparations for Paani given the scale of the film. We’ll shortly also be making some exciting announcements on his new projects.”

Now that we all know Ankita Lokhande’s beau is still playing the lead in Paani, let’s hope the film goes on floor soon without any further delay. Or else we really won’t be surprised if SSR actually part ways with Shekhar Kapur and his film.

Frankly, we’ve even tried doing this in real life; it never works out the way they show- really! Why is it that the creatives can’t write something new and fresh. There may be a hundred ways for a girl and guy to fall in love, then why this whole melodrama of getting lost in the jungle and blah di da…

Just when we thought The Times of India would learn from its mistakes and mend its ways, the online portal of the media house has put out another piece titled ‘Hot babes with ugly legs’. The article takes a dig at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s legs saying ‘The former Miss World has legs that look better when covered’. The report goes on to add names of some more Bollywood actress giving them shallow adjectives and describing their body parts with strange metaphors. To quote their report:

Aditi Rao Hydari: This pretty actress is clearly not comfortable with her wobbly knees.

Dia Mirza: This dazzling beauty has skinny legs and sharp, pointy knees.

Bhumika Chawla: Those legs don’t look like they belong to a movie star.

This observation of specific body parts by the portal has come under a scathing attack from the UK media house – The Independent (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/times-of-india-hot-babes-with-ugly-legs-article-targeting-angelina-jolie-and-bollywood-stars-sparks-outrage-9753587.html?dldk) where Louise Court, Editor-in-Chief of British women’s magazine Cosmopolitan, was quoted saying, “I was infuriated by it – but women struggling with their body image are made even more vulnerable.

“This article is just mean and pointless. We should be focusing on the talent of the women on that list – not what they look like. Angelina Jolie is an Oscar winner and global humanitarian. C’mon ladies, give Mr Gulati a chance and quit being cry babies about the same!

Discussions about nominations are a strict no-no in the Bigg Boss house but Karishma and Arya were seen doing the same in hush hush tones. Where Arya declared that he would never cast a vote against Minishaa and Karishma, the latter agreed to the same with the other name being Diandra’s. The movie manages to raise a scare here and there

Directed by Vishal Mahadkar, 3 A.M. stars Rannvijay Singh in the lead alongside Anindita Nayar, Salil Acharya and Kavin Dave. The horror flick will release on September 26.

Our reviewer, Namrata Thakker is at the press trial of the show happening at the moment and here’s her take on the film so far…

Namrata says, “First half of 3 A.M. is scary in bits and pieces. Rannvijay plays his part decently. Since it’s a horror flick, I expected all drama would start from the word go but it doesn’t. 15 minutes in the movie and there nothing’s happening. Finally, after some naach gaana and romance you get to see the spooky stuff. Till interval the film is just about okay and manages to raise a scare here and there courtesy sound effects. Let’s hope the second half is scarier.”

The couple had a crazy, romantic and drunken night – of course there will be repercussions the next day, right?

Qubool Hai recently showcased how Tanveer (Amrapali Gupta) accidentally mixes the truth serum in  Aahil‘s (Karanvir Bohra) apple pie that both Sanam (Surbhi Jyoti) and her hubby eat. The serum takes effect and Aahil starts disclosing the secrets of his troubled childhood. Sanam and Aahil spend the night in each other’s arms, however, by morning things are no longer the same. Aahil is angry with Sanam because he believes that his wife tricked him by mixing something in his food. He doesn’t listen to Sanam’s reasoning and lashes out at her.

In the upcoming episode, Sanam will pack her belongings and walk out of the house. Seeing Sanam leave Aahil will panic and request her to forgive him. But Sanam will be in no mood for his apologies, so Aahil will go down on one knee and beg for forgiveness. Sanam says that she will stay back on one condition. Well we think Sanam will ask Aahil to quit drinking and to always tell her how he feels instead of bottling up his emotions.

With the festival just round the corner, the Singhania family has already begun their Navratri preparations

Previously we had reported that Rukmini (Urmila Sharma) was upset with Mohit (Ayush Agarwal) because he brought Nandini (Nidhi Uttam) to the Singhania house and did not inform Rukmini about it. When Nandini’s mother-in-law found out the truth she got angry and began to fight with Mohit. Later Akshara (Hina Khan) intervened and managed to settle the issue.

In yesterday’s episode, Naitik (Karan Mehra) informed Akshara that he will be coming home for a day during Navratri. Akshara gets happy with the news. She informs Naksh (Shivansh Kotia) that Naitik will be coming home for a day and will also arrange for the Navratri passes. Naksh and Naman (Anshul Pandey) get very excited hearing the news and can’t wait to meet Naitik.

In tonight’s episode, Naitik will celebrate Navratri in Surat. He visits a pandal with Vipul and Hiral. Naitik imagines himself playing Garba with Akshara.

What it’s about:

Two village kids grow up in a neighbourhood where they sell desi guns (kattey). It is because they have been dealing with guns all their lives, their aim is immaculate. However, they slowly grow up to become local goons in the area. The state’s powerful gangster takes them under his wing and the two are very happy as that was their childhood dream. (If it reminds you of Arjun Kapoor-Ranveer Singh-Priyanka Chopra starrer Gunday don’t blame us)

Soon after they are spotted by an ex-army officer and he sees a great talent in them. He decides to train them for various shooting championships. This was their chance to live a better life. However, one guy decides to use his skill for winning laurels for the nation while the other gets back to being in the world of crime and becomes the most feared king pin ever. Who will finally succeed in life and who will not? Watch the movie to find out…

What’s hot:

The cinemtography by S R Satish Kumar is good. However, the director Anand Kumar‘s vision was not that great and thus there were loads of flaws even in the picturisation. The music by Kailash Kher is commendable. Not that Claudia Ciesla’s item song Patnewali hoon is something great but the rest of the songs are decent ones. These were the few things that sailed people through the movie.

What’s not:

Everything about the film is pathetic. It’s story line is flawed, it’s dialogues are worse than imagined, the acting is awful and above all the direction is vague. Seasoned actors like Suniel Shetty and Ashutosh Rana have minimal screen presence. However, Ashutosh does really well in that as well. Suniel’s dialogue delivery is just as funny as it was in Border or any of his 1990s films. Jay Bhanushali impressed in Hate Story 2 but here he couldn’t prove his mettle at all. Newcomer Akhil Kapur was way too stoic and his acting reminds you of the fact that robots could even act better than him.

However, we don’t blame the actors for their bad acting. It’s the director who is to be blamed. In a film where it should have been full of guns and gory, every scene and dialogue was more than laughable. Had it promoted as a comedy film, maybe it would have done way better. Even the part where the director claimed that it is a sports film is utter rubbish. If this is a sports film then Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom was a dance film.

Verdict:

This film is a perfect example of what bad direction can do to a good enough plot. This movie is  torture to your senses. If you have nothing better to do this weekend, sit at home and watch Arnab Goswami on TV. That will be far more interesting that going and watching this film.
